Festival Wear To Add To Your Everyday Wardrobe

By Kristen Peuvion on April 15, 2015

This past weekend one of the biggest music festivals of the year occurred.

Of course, I am talking about Coachella and while all of the festival goers certainly enjoyed listening to the likes of Drake, Florence and the Machine, Alesso and Vance Joy, just to name a few, it became overwhelmingly clear that the face of music festivals is changing.

Music festivals are not just about the music anymore. It quickly became evident from the countless fashion magazines and online publications writing and blogging about things like festival fashion trends, how to not look like everyone else at the music festival and music festival accessories, that music festivals are just as much about the fashion as they are about the music.

Festivals like Coachella, Lollapalooza and Bonnaroo aren’t just about enjoying the music, they’re about showing off your unique, eclectic festival fashion.

Some trends from all of these festival fashion articles include anything from hippie inspired bell bottoms to bohemian floral rompers to edgy concert cut off t-shirts.

And while all of these things “scream” festival wear, that doesn’t mean your wardrobe doesn’t have room for some of these festival items for every day. So get out of the festival mindset and try adding some of these festival inspired pieces to your everyday wardrobe!

Lace Dress

There’s something about lace that just makes sense for a music festival. It’s every bohemian style lovers go-to material and it should make its way into your closet permanently.

It is delicate and feminine but also surprisingly sexy. The sheer-like quality that lace has makes it sexy, but in a subtle way.

A lace dress is just what you need in your closet for this summer. If you opt for one that’s super sheer, you’ll increase your dress’ wear-ability.

With a super sheer lace number, you will be able to wear it as a dress with a simple slip beneath it or you can wear it with just your bathing suit underneath as a chic swim cover up.

Suede Vest or Jacket

By now, we know that suede is the up and coming material these days, so why not hop on the bandwagon?

Suede is a lot of festival goers go-to because of the western, bohemian, hippie vibe it gives off, but since the material has become so popular in the fashion world, it’s time you give it a place of its own in your everyday wardrobe.

Whether a vest or jacket is more your style, both will do wonders for updating simple spring dresses, rompers and the classic jeans and t-shirt.

If you’re looking for something classic, brown is the way to go, but if you want something more unique, try finding your suede jacket or vest in a fun pop of color like blue or red.

Wide Brim Hat

Nothing says undercover celebrity at a music festival quite like a wide brim floppy hat. So channel your inner Kendall Jenner and invest in your own floppy hat.

It is the perfect casual, low maintenance accessory to throw on with any spring or summer outfit. Whether you’re going to brunch with your girlfriends or hitting the park with your significant other, a wide brim floppy hat will pull together your warm weather look in an effortless, “I woke up like this” kind of way.

Bell Bottoms

The ’70s are back in a huge way and what better way to show off your knowledge of the fashion world than by rocking one of the biggest trends of that decade?

Bell bottoms are an iconic ’70s trend that have found their way back into our festival style 40 years later. Now it’s time to break out the bell bottoms year round, though!

You can go for a truly ’70s look by opting for a pair with a trippy, psychedelic print or go for something more subtle and classic like a pair of denim bell bottoms.

Just remember with whatever look you choose, keep things fitted and simple on top. Bell bottoms make a statement and have a lot of volume, and you want your look to be balanced, not overwhelming.

Fringe Skirt

Much like lace, fringe is a subtly sexy festival staple. It’s another one of those ’70s trends that has made its way back into the fashion world, so now is the time to add it to your closet!

Because of the ’70s revival, you can basically find fringe on any kind of clothing, but my favorite is with a fringe skirt. Fringe has a way of moving with your body with every move you make so that it seemingly clings to every curve you have, but in a flattering and enticing way.

It’ll move with every step you take, making it sexy without being over the top. Throw this skirt on when you’re planning on a night out with your girlfriends or for date night.

Those bohemian, hippie-esque looks that fill music festivals like Coachella don’t have to be worn only once. In fact, it’s easy to add them to your everyday wardrobe!

Any of these pieces will add some much needed festival flare to your closet.
