The Dark Side of the Internet or the “hidden web” gives a person a sense of fake security to buy whatever she wants through anonymous forums and websites that sell illegal items.

Many gangs buy drugs or communicate through the dark side of the web. The gangs find it easier to buy the drugs on the web because the Internet gives a false sense of security. Many people feel that what happens on the web is not reality.

Although The Dark Side of the Internet can be used for harmful purposes, it can also be used for good ones. Originally, the military created the hidden web. The Dark Side of the Web is mainly used for anonymous purposes such as terrorist activity, bullying and the purchase of weapons and drugs; this causes chaos across the world.

The U.S. military originally created The Dark Side of the Web to hide users’ and sellers’ identity, according to Independent UK. The website, the Atlantis, sold weapons. Naïve people quickly thought that the web was an anonymous forum to change the meaning of freedom of speech. The Internet transformed into a new “Wild West.” The Internet evolved into the wild west that steals a person’s right to safety. Gangs, terrorists and all types of immoral people formed plots to buy drugs and weapons.

A situation developed into a dilemma of not knowing who was doing what. The “Dark Web” gave a false sense of security: some gullible people thought they could get away with their illegal activity. If it is a virtual reality, then it is not real or that is how it appeared to those who used the web.

“It seemed so obvious that that was what the net was supposed to be about – freedom to communicate,” wrote Ian Clarke, an inventor of a Distributed, Decentralized Information Storage and Retrieval System.

However, after the invention of “the hidden web,” some users tampered with “freedom of speech.” According to the first amendment, citizens of the United States had the right to freedom of speech and freedom of the press as long as these freedoms did not harm others. The Dark Side of the Web seemed to take away freedom of speech and caused a growing fear. And fear grows rapidly when anonymous and unknown people are the ones causing all the hate.

There is no way to stop this anonymous hate unless the government shuts down the Internet. This is no longer an option since the Internet and even the Dark Side of the Web is vital to citizen’s lives in the 21st century. A philosophical argument keeps the Dark Side of the Web in order to appreciate the good, there must be bad. Nothing is black and white. There will always be a negative side to a story.

However, according to the Huffington Post, “dislocations in labor markets, with old industries and jobs disappearing” caused this. It induces many problems that can potentially harm the economy. According to Don Tapscott, author of the Huffington Post article, the Dark Web destroys individuals’ privacy. People use the Dark Side of the Web to steal money and to spy on people.

A great debate exists — what to do with the anonymous hate according to the New York Times, Stanley Fish writer. The Supreme Court tried to fix things in 1995, but no one can solve the dark web problems. These problems are so entrenched that they cannot be solved at this point. The police cannot trace everyone who uses the Dark Side of the Web, and they cannot find a final solution to stop the use of the Dark Side of the Web.

The Dark Side of the Web avoids responsibility according to The New York Times writer, Stanley Fish. People feel like they can post whatever they want on the web. However, what most people do not realize is what gets posted on the web stays on the web forever. Many people use the web to bully others because they feel that it is easier to say the negative remark anonymously than to say this to the person’s face. However, the Internet’s hate can spread quickly; hurtful words said to a person do not travel as fast. Even if the hurtful words are deleted from the Internet, they do not fully disappear. The anonymous Dark Web forums can be used for ridiculing people. Some people get caught for bullying or buying illegal drugs.

The Dark Web gives a mysterious tone to the name, according to The Guardian’s Andy Beckett. The users of the Dark Web have research that is beyond what typical users have. It is difficult to find the Dark Web’s search engine. Despite what people think, users on the Dark Web can put a person into danger. This is especially true if a person chats to the wrong type of people. People must be careful about what is put on the Internet and think twice before using the Dark Web.

The Dark Web is a place of mystery and danger. It gives sly people a chance to steal and anonymously buy drugs and weapons. Although terrorists and gangs utilize the Dark Web, the U.S. military originally created this concept.

People do not realize what they put on the Internet stays there forever. It is possible that the devious people can be caught. So, the Dark Web exists today. Now the world has the internet as a new form of the Wild West.
